Celebrating a co-op Thanksgiving

Group photo of Nolin RECC employeesOn November 28, our nation will celebrate Thanksgiving—a day when we collectively pause to express gratitude. As Nolin RECC’s President and CEO, there are many things for which I am thankful.

By Our Communities, for Our Communities

When you think of October, Halloween and fall foliage naturally come to mind. October is also notable for another reason—it’s National Co-op Month. This is the time of year when cooperatives across the October is National Co-op Monthcountry, including Nolin RECC, celebrate who we are and more importantly, the members we serve.

Kentucky Lineman’s Rodeo

Later this month, Nolin RECC will host the 15th Annual Kentucky Lineman’s Rodeo.

At Nolin, Learning Never Stops

In this new school year, people of all ages are learning about a wide variety of subjects and skills that will prepare them for the future. In a similar way, Nolin RECC is continually learning in order to improve electric service, reliability and safety. Ultimately, this enhances the quality of life in our local communities.

Empowering Youth Through Education

Nolin RECC has always been driven by the desire to make life better for the people we serve. In addition to our mission of providing safe, reliable, affordable power to our members, we are also dedicated to the overall well-being of our communities. We partner within our communities to help them develop into thriving places our members are proud to call home.

Your Neighbor, Your Energy

Nolin RECC is your neighbor in every sense of the word. We’re not only your neighbor because you live in one of the nine counties we serve, we are also neighbors because we share a common purpose and interest, to improve the quality of life in this place we call home.

And, Nolin RECC is in a great position to serve our home area from Radcliff to Magnolia because we are a cooperative. Cooperatives—by their very nature—are uniquely suited to understand their own local community. Nolin was built by, belongs to and is led by people in our communities.

Be careful: The safe way is the best way

May is Electrical Safety Month. Because safety is discussed so frequently due to its importance, we can sometimes take it for granted. For as long as I can remember, each time I have a conversation with my grandfather we conclude the discussion with him reminding me to “be careful.” I always respond that “I will.” To which he would reiterate that I be “double careful.” I don’t think that I was able to fully grasp what he meant until I became a parent. Now that I am responsible for a workforce in an inherently dangerous field, this has taken on an even greater meaning for me.

Celebrating Earth Day all year

In recognition of Earth Day on April 22, I want to highlight some of the ways Nolin is working to most efficiently use its resources and be good stewards of the environment. We have many employees who share a desire to conserve resources and reduce waste, but a few have gone above and beyond to make sure that we get the most out of our efforts.

The Value of Our Employees

In March, we celebrate Employee Appreciation Day. With that in mind, I want to recognize those who work hard for our members all year.
