The deadline to apply for Washington Youth Tour 2025 has passed. For those eligible students who applied, you will be receiving a packet of information in the mail to complete your application process. If you have not received this packet by February 10, 2025, contact sfellows@nolinrecc.com.
For more than 50 years, electric cooperatives across Kentucky have recognized outstanding high schoolers by providing a leadership experience for rising seniors.
An all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. is awarded each June to FIVE young people from the Nolin Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation service area. These students spend a week touring Gettysburg, the Smithsonian Institution, Arlington National Cemetery, the FBI Building, the National Zoo, Library of Congress, U.S. Capitol, The White House, the Kennedy Center, plus a visit with Kentucky’s congressional delegation.
The 2025 Washington Youth Tour has been set for June 16-21, 2025. Applications will be accepted December 15, 2024 through February 3, 2025. High school juniors who live with a Nolin member are eligible. 5 participants and 2 alternates will be selected from eligible applicants.
The application process includes an initial simple interest form (available from school counselors, on this page and through our social media starting December 15). Once this form is submitted, you will receive further instructions in the mail. Those instructions will give details of how to schedule an in-person interview, the writing prompt for a short essay and material to review for a quiz.
