When a Nolin RECC member receives a report about an outage on their account or views an outage on our outage map, often there is an “estimated restoration time” (ERT) listed.
What does that mean?
That means, based on the information available to the personnel in our dispatch center, the resolution of the outage is likely to take place within the given time frame. New information from field personnel, additional damage or other factors can change the ERT. Depending on the severity and predictability of the event that caused the outage, dispatch personnel will attempt to keep the ERT as updated as possible; however, it is not a guarantee and is always subject to change.
The first priority of our employees is safety, then restoration, during an outage event – the ERT is a service we provide our members when possible to help them with planning. It is still the responsibility of the member to plan ahead for potential outages and to make decisions for the health and safety of themselves and their loved ones based on their own best judgment.
